The TORCH does have some upside, it’s light is unlike anything I’ve ever seen from other flashlights. They claim it’s powerful enough to fry an egg, and while I’ve never tried this, this video does the job for us.

Fenix TK76 High Lumen LED Flashlight: The Mothership

“FENIX TK76 2800 Lumen Triple Beam CREE LED Flashlight with Two Smith & Wesson LED CaraBeamer Clip Lights and EdisonBright Battery Sampler Pack”. That’s a hell of a product description.

Durability

Truthfully, I’m not sure what you could possibly need this light for except for the simple fact that it’s badass and spills a ton of light.

As is the case with almost every solid flashlight on the market it’s manufactured out of aircraft aluminum, anodized to harden the outside and the glass is tempered to make it shatter resistant. Notice I didn’t say “proof,” I said resistant, so don’t take a hammer to it you will be able to break it.

Lumens, Settings and Battery Life

The ridiculous part about this flashlight is it actually has 3 separate bulbs. It features 2 Cree XM-L2 LEDs and one Cree XM-L2 T6 LED light. You can flick between general mode and tri-mode which toggles between using three heads or just a single head. From there you can choose between four separate modes, with a maximum output of 2800 lumens and a minimum of 7 lumens.

It also has a button which allows you instantly toggle between strobe and the normal setting. On the lowest setting, the flashlight will last for 20 hours, while on the highest setting (tri-mode turbo) it will last just over an hour.

Overall FENIX TK76

The TK76 is a fantastic piece of equipment but it is a little bit overkill. There aren’t a lot of practical situations, which I can see the FENIX TK76 excelling in. Search and rescue workers might find the flood functionality to be useful in light with such immense power.

Overall, I would probably opt for something a little bit smaller that has fewer features.

Bright Tactical LED Flashlight: BARSKA BA11630 – 1200 Lumen High Power LED Tactical Flashlight

The highest lumen tactical flashlight I was able to find was the Barska BA11630. However, after additional research, this would NOT be the product I personally would buy.

Durability

After doing my research I quickly discovered the BA11630 isn’t made with the same quality materials as some of the other manufacturers. This may sound like lip service more than anything else but using aircraft grade aluminum followed by an anodizing process is critical. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that the majority of the complaints are based on the flashlight being dropped or mishandled and then suddenly it stops working.

The tube diameter of this flashlight is 1” so technically you could mount it on most standard weapon mounts. I would advise against testing it on an AR or a shotgun, even a pistol might rattle it to the point where it no longer works.

Lumens, Settings and Battery Life

Admittedly this light does produce a massive amount of light, and it’s rated for 1200 lumens. There is nothing in a similar price range that can touch that. However, there is a good reason for this, the overall quality of the light has suffered.

One positive is it comes with rechargeable batteries which is a significant enough investment to mention. At the highest setting, it runs for 2 hours, while at the lowest setting it runs for 6 hours.

Overall BARSKA – BA11630

Reviewers have given this product 3/5 stars which is suspect at best. What’s even more significant about this product is the number of reports of the flashlight breaking and then BARSKA not honoring there one year warranty. As an aside, high-end flashlight manufacturers will offer more than a one year warranty on a tactical flashlight.

Made of aluminum with a high-quality anodized finish and a combat tactical front head, the UTG weapon mount is made to last. It weighs just under 6 ounces and lengthwise is 6 inches which should make it more than suitable for most long barrel firearms. This particular model is a bit of a crossover providing the user the option of using it as a handheld tactical flashlight if necessary. Just a side note, it does not ship with a holster.

• Durability:- If you buy a product from Streamlight it’s not going to be the cheapest on the market, however, it will be among the best-manufactured lights you can purchase. Aside from Surefire, another company with a high reputation for building solid products, Streamlight is arguably the best light manufacturer on the market. The flashlight itself is incredibly light and the glass is tempered meaning it won’t break on you on impact. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that this device comes with a lifetime guarantee; Streamlight built this flashlight to last. Made of aircraft aluminum and enhanced with an anodized finish, you won’t have to worry about the exterior getting banged up. The head of the unit also features an anti-roll face cap which can save you a long walk down a steep driveway or can help you in a pressure situation in the case you dropped your light. One thing to note is you can’t fit this into a standard 1″ holder. If you’re looking to mount it on a weapon make sure you purchase an adjustable mount because the diameter is only 0.9″.
• Lumens, Settings, and Battery Life:- The Streamlight 88031 offers 180 lumens. Admittedly, it isn’t the brightest light on the market so if you’re looking for something that’s going to light a field up check out the Surefire P2X Fury Dual Output LED. As you’d expect if you want to go from 180 lumens to 500 lumens and not sacrifice in quality you can expect to pay quite a bit more. This light has three settings; high, low and strobe. On low mode, it provides only 13 lumens and can run for 50 hours. In other words a long time. I’ve used this flashlight while running at night and the low setting works just fine. On high as mentioned earlier it has 180 lumens and a run time of 3 hours. Finally, with the strobe function, it’ll run for 6 hours. The on/off switch is located at the back of the device, which is standard among tactical lights. You can access all three modes with one hand, which is a great feature. All you have to do is tap the light once for the high beam, twice for the strobe function and 3 times for the low beam. The only aspect I don’t like about the on/off switch is the taps. The strobe should always be the last function.
• Streamlight 88031 Overall Review:- Overall, I would rate this product very highly. It does as advertised; it’s not the brightest light on the market but for under $50 that should be expected. Dollar for dollar, this is the best flashlight on the market. You’re probably going to be surprised at how compact and small the device is, it’s hard to believe that it’s producing the amount of light that it does. The only drawback is the strobe function should have been set to the triple tap (you’ll rarely use that function) and it’s you can’t buy a standard 1″ gun mount. Aside from that, this product delivers as promised.

UTG 2-in-1 Tactical LED Flashlight with Red Laser

The purpose of a review site is to provide objective reviews. I’m going to start off by saying I wouldn’t purchase a UTG 2-in-1 Tactical LED Flashlight. My primary concern with the unit is the overall construction of it. It seems to me UTG spent too much time worrying about making the weapon look slick and not enough time to worry about the results when you fire your pistol or rifle! If you’re not convinced read on, for the most part, I sing praise for this particular unit.  The issue is that it doesn’t matter how good all of the other features are if the damn thing falls apart.

UTG 2-in-1 Tactical LED w/ Laser: Functionality

• Durability:- I just finished a big rant about the durability of the unit. If I had to rate it on a scale from 1 to 5 I would give it a 1, maybe a 1.5 out of 5. Not very good for a pretty expensive weapon light! If you take this to the range (I don’t expect all weapon lights to be range weapon – see the NEBO) you have a high probability of busting either the laser or the LED light before you finish. As I mentioned, I don’t expect every weapon light to be suitable for a firing range. Some weapon lights serve a singular purpose; to defend the homestead. However, if you’re going to buy a light to protect your house in the event of an intruder it shouldn’t cost $60 and it doesn’t need to come equipped with a laser. I’m not against the laser, I’m against paying an extra $30 for a laser that has a tendency to break.
• Lumens:- This light is equipped with a respectable 150 lumens. For indoor uses, this is a fairly substantial amount of light. The laser produces a nice beam as well, it easily crossed my field into the woods (which is at least a few hundred meters) and put a nice light on a target.
• On/Off Switch:- The On/Off switch on the rear of the unit is pretty cruddy as well. In order to keep the light on, you have to keep it pressed in. The other option is to tighten the cap all the way – then the light is on permanently until you unscrew the cap. It does come with a pressure momentary on the switch as well. This feature made me question what this unit was really built for. For an airsoft gun, it makes a lot of sense – however, for practical purposes it doesn’t. Having the ability to turn the light on and off quickly can be advantageous even in a situation where you’re simply trying to defend your home.
• Battery:- This unit used 2 CR123A batteries and last 2 hours. Not much else to say about it, 2 hours is a decent run time.

UTG 2-in-1 Tactical LED Flashlight with Red Laser: Rails and Mounting

This particular UTG unit will fit on any standard Picatinny rail or universal rail. One of the better features is the mounting deck is one of the better features on this unit, as it fits a lot of weapons without standard rails without additional attachments. The laser also can be flipped around to any position which makes this unit suitable for lefties or righties.

UTG 2-in-1 Tactical LED Flashlight with Red Laser Weapon Review

As stated earlier, I wouldn’t recommend this unit unless you want it for Airsoft rifle or you want it purely for aesthetic appeal. I don’t know how practical it is to own any piece of equipment that has a high probability of breaking down. On Amazon, this unit scored 4.1/5.0, presumably because it looks badass. The negative reviews are consistent with my experience; the light broke or the laser broke after unloading a few rounds.

If you’re looking for a high-end robust field light with a red dot I would recommend the Streamlight TLR-4. If you don’t want to cough up the extra $40 I would go in the other direction and purchase a NEBO ProTec for $30 for home protection purposes.

Final Thoughts

Depending on what your budget and your needs are there are several powered flashlights on the market. If you are really only interested in the very brightest tactical flashlight the TORCH is your ticket.

Not everyone needs a high lumen flashlight if you’re in the market for a quality light at a reasonable price we recommend the Maglite S4D016. Keep in mind the Maglite isn’t designed for intense weather or environments.

If you think you may want to mount the light on the weapon or you want a slick, durable light for everyday use the 88040 really does outperform the competition in terms of price and quality.
